The Siege of the Heap
The Siege of the Heap
A D&D 5th Edition Adventure for 4–5 Characters, Levels 2–3
Rats · Traps · Goblins · Bigger Problems
Somewhere off the road between farmland and forest sits the Heap — a mountain of the kingdom's discarded history, generations deep, home to a kobold trapmaker named Click and his enormous, gentle ogre friend, Clack. Tonight, a goblin warband led by the self-styled Queen Ethel Ratcatcher is coming to take it from them, and a badly mistranslated tavern sign has just recruited your party to help.
But the real question of the night isn't whether you can win the fight. It's how much a scared, defensive little kobold trusts a table full of strangers with the life of the only friend he has — because Click, not you, decides how much of Clack's strength you actually get to see.
The Siege of the Heap is a fast, funny, surprisingly tender one-shot: three escalating combat waves, a short rest spent frantically rebuilding traps, and a boss fight against a goblin queen who's a lot funnier, a lot louder, and — right at the very end — a lot sadder than she first appears.
What's inside:
A complete one-shot for 4–5 characters, levels 2–3, built for a single 4–5 hour session
A living trust mechanic where the party's own behavior decides how the finale plays out
Three escalating siege waves, full trap-lane mechanics, and a genuinely earned emotional payoff
A fully fleshed-out town of Puddlewick — a tavern with a running mystery, a toll booth, an outfitter run by a retired dwarven adventurer, and a two-hundred-year-old shrine hiding a debt that's never been collected
Full character portraits, four tactical maps, an original magic item, and complete DM guidance front to back
A one-shot that starts as a monster-of-the-week siege and ends up being about who actually stays.
